Government security forces arrested a ranking New People’s Army (NPA) leader in Palawan and his two henchmen early Sunday, police reported Monday.
The reports identified the NPA leader as Dionisio Almonte alias “Inol/Maeng.” The names of his two companions were not disclosed.
The reports said Almonte and his men were arrested at around 7 a.m. in Sitio Naonao, Barangay Port Barton, San Vicente town.
A team from the police’s Regional Intelligence Unit 4B; Navy commandos and soldiers of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 4 (MBLT-4) made the arrest, reports said.
Recovered from the three rebels were eight shotguns; two Uzi submachine pistols; a 50-caliber machine gun; M16 rifle and bomb-making materials.
The reports said that three rebels were being questioned by security forces in Palawan.
The three reportedly belong to the group of rebels that raided a pearl farm in an islet in Taytay, Palawan last April.
The group seized several high-powered and communication equipment.
