Raonic edges local hero Tomic in Brisbane


BRISBANE, Australia: Canadian Milos Raonic edged out local hero Bernard Tomic in two tie-break sets to reach his second consecutive final at the Brisbane International on Saturday. The big-serving Raonic hit 13 aces on his way to a 7-6 (7/5), 7-6 (7/5) win in one hour, 47 minutes. He will now play the winner of the second semifinals between top seed Roger Federer and Austrian Dominic Thiem, the eighth seed. Federer beat Raonic in the 2015 final in three close sets.
