Ravena leads MVP race

Reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kiefer Ravena of Ateneo de Manila University is leading the MVP race after the first round of elimination of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 78 men’s basketball tournament.

Ravena accumulated 70.85 statistical points (SPs) after scoring 128 points, 50 rebounds, 35 assists, 12 steals and two blocks in seven games.

University of Santo Tomas’ (UST) Kevin Ferrer placed second with 68.28 SPs while his teammate Ed Daquioag wound up third with 65.00 SPs. Ferrer had 125 points, 57 rebounds, 12 assists, six steals and a couple of blocks, and Daquioag got 136 points, 33 rebounds, 17 assists, seven steals and a block.

Alfred Aroga of defending champion National University took the No. 4 spot with 61.14 followed by Jeron Teng of De La Salle University (60.14), Far Eastern University’s Mark Belo (57.85) and Mike Tolomia (55.85), Karim Abdul of UST (53.00), Raymar Jose of FEU (52.00) and Edison Batiller of University of the East (51.42).

After the first round of elimination, UST and FEU are sharing the top spot with 6-1 each, Ateneo and La Salle are tied in third with 4-3 apiece, NU is in fifth with 3-4, UE and University of the Philippines with the same 2-5 and Adamson in eighth with 1-6.

The second round of elimination will begin on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City with UP facing Adamson at 2 p.m. and NU battling UE at 4 p.m.
