KIEFER Ravena’s spectacular performance in overtime rescued Ateneo De Manila University from the jaws of defeat against University of the East (UE) on Sunday in UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball.
Ravena, who scored a career-high 38 points to go with nine assists and six rebounds, fired six crucial points in the extension period to give the Blue Eagles a 93-91 come-from-behind win over the Red Warriors at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“It’s the epitome of a can-do attitude,” said Ateneo De Manila University head coach Bo Perasol, whose team now totes a league-leading 6-1 card. “It was just the desire to be able to get back. Our players refused to give up especially Kiefer.”

UE took its fourth consecutive loss.
Point guard Shej Roi Sumang, delivered 30 points, seven assists and five rebounds for the Red Warriors, but his game-tying drive in the fading seconds of overtime was blocked.
It was Ravena who forced the extra period, hitting a jumper to tie the game at 80 with less than 20 seconds left.
In volleyball, defending champion UE continue to steamroll the opposition by posting straight sets victories in the boys division at the Adamson Gym.
The Junior Warriors overwhelmed National University in a rematch of last season’s championship, 25-17, 25-22, 25-11, on Saturday and defeated University of Santo Tomas (UST), 25-9, 25-17, 25-22, on the following day to remain unbeaten in five matches.
The Bullpups rebounded back from their loss to UE with a 21-25, 27-25, 25-22, 27-25 win over Ateneo On Sunday to improve to 4-1 in second place.
In girls play, NU downed titleholder UST in their Season 75 Finals rematch, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23, on Saturday to remain unbeaten in four starts.
UE defeated University of the Philippines Integrated School, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14, while La Salle-Zobel whipped Far Eastern University-Diliman, 25-7, 25-15, 25-10.
