Many people are wondering why the New People’s Army is not doing anything to help victims in typhoon Yolanda-stricken Leyte and Samar, and other provinces where they may presumably have many members. Except for the P50,000 they recently offered, nothing was heard from them anymore. Could their members there be fatalities? The more they should give help in many forms.
They should see the example of the government and the whole world for that matter, in responding to the call for help of the typhoon victims. They shine when it comes to terror but is obtuse in darkness when it comes to helping others. They should also in some ways, thank the government, soldiers, police and other volunteers for not discriminating against NPA members who are also victims.
Much more aid not only of food but materials for reconstruction are still needed. It will be a long period for rehabilitation. For their part, if they can’t help, they should stop their attacks on soldiers and law enforcement people, stop attacking civilians also, as the civilians can no longer take it from them anymore. If they continue with it in the midst of the problem, what kind of organization have they become? They should have a heart towards others.
