• ‘Recta aldavez abierta’


    Recta aldavez abierta contra totchada derecho is an upward diagonal cut used against an opponent’s straight sword thrust.

    Photo 1 shows Maestro Abenir (left) preparing to engage an opponent in a bolo against bolo fight. Photo 2 shows Abenir reacting to a thrust using a downward left hand parry on the dull side of the bolo while simultaneously cutting his opponent’s forearm. Photo 3 shows Abenir zoning to the right of his opponent while maintaining the check on the weapon hand. Photo 4 shows Abenir immediately executing a vertical upward-downward cut called doblete. Photo 5 shows a totchada derecho or a straight sword thrust toward the stomach as Abenir’s finishing move.
