• Red Lions, Cubs go for the kill in Game 2

DEFENDING champions San Beda College Red Lions and Red Cubs will go for the kill as they meet separate foes on Thursday in Game Two of the best-of-three Finals series of the 89th National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Both the Red Lions and the Red Cubs are enjoying a 1-0 lead over their opponents. The former are eyeing their 18th collegiate crown and fourth straight while the latter their 21st.

The Red Lions led by Nigerian Olaide Adeogun, John Mark Ludovice and Baser Amer crushed Letran Knights, 80-68, while the Red Cubs beat College of Saint Benilde-LSGH Greenies, 79-68, on Monday.

“It’s not over yet. We have yet to win on Thursday to bring home the title. We are ready for the second game,” said Red Lions coach Boyet Fernandez.

Letran coach Caloy Garcia promised a big comeback for the Knights, “We need support from our second stringers. I really believe in my players but we have to play good together to win the series,” said Garcia.

“We can still win the championship. We have to play physical in the next game especially on Olaide Adeogun. We just collapsed in the fourth quarter, but we can come back in Game 2. We will come out stronger,” added Garcia.
