San Beda College (SBC) bucked a slow start anew as it toppled rival Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL), 81-74, to stretch its winning streak to three in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 93 basketball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan City.
After staring on a 20-30 deficit late in the first half, the Red Lions broke loose in the third period en route to solidifying their hold of the second spot with their fourth win in five games.
San Beda opened the final half with an 11-0 run built on three triples before outscoring Letran in the third frame, 28-16.
Robert Bolick paced the Red Lions with 22 points while Javee Mocon flirted with a triple double, tallying 17 markers, 10 rebounds and eight assists.
Jerrick Balanza scored a career-high 20 points while Bong Quinto notched a double-double of 19 markers and 15 boards for the Knights, who joined Mapua University at the bottom with a 1-3 win-loss record.
