San Beda College will be gunning for fifth win when it faces Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 92 women’s volleyball tournament today at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Red Spikers-Lady Knights is at 11:30 a.m. after the tussle between Lyceum of the Philippines University and Mapua Institute of Technology at 10 a.m.
San Beda solidifed its hold of the No. 4 spot with a 4-2 win-loss record behind unbeaten San Sebastian College (6-0), defending champion College of Saint Benilde (5-1) and Arellano University (4-1).
The Red Spikers are raring to bounce back from their 22-25, 22-25, 14-25 loss to the Lady Chiefs last week with open hitter Cesca Racraquin expected to lead the charge for the Mendiola-based squad.
Racracquin is currently the third best scorer in the league, having 72 spikes, 10 aces and a couple of blocks in six games.
Viray twins Nieza and Jiezela will be providing the needed backup as well as middle blocker Satrianni Espiritu, setter Rebecca Cuevas and libero Daryl Racracquin.
On the other hand, Letran is still winless in five games.
Glayssa Torres, Miracle Mendoza, Jan Juno Carreon, Jaymeleene Parin, Mikaela Lopez and Charlemagne Simborio must bring their A-games to keep the Final Four chances of the Lady Knights alive.
Lyceum, for its part, has a 3-1 card for the No. 6 spot.
Veterans Cherilyn Sindayen, Czarina Orros, Rainne Fabay, Christine Miralles and Monica Sevilla will carry the Lady Pirates against the Mapua’s Angeline Mangundayao, Precious Sedenio, Patricia Pena and Dianne Latayan.
The Lady Pirates recently stunned the Lady Blazers via a 25-22, 24-26, 25-18, 20-25, 15-10 decision.
In the men’s division, Lyceum (2-2) meets Mapua (2-3) at 8:30 a.m. while Letran (1-4) takes on San Beda (5-1) at 1 p.m.
In the lone juniors game, Letran tackles San Beda at 2:30 p.m.
