SULU POLICE CHIEF SACKED
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday announced the sacking of the police provincial com-mander of Sulu where peace and order situation spiralled down leading to Monday’s mid-term elections. PNP chief, Director General Alan Puri-sima said he had ordered the relief of Sr. Supt. Anto-nio Freyra as Sulu provincial police chief for his “failure” to control the peace and order situation in the pro-vince. The PNP chief said that days leading to Elec-tion Day on Monday, ten-sion in the province rose, particularly in Panglima Estino town and Tongkil Island resulting in bloody confrontations between rival candidates and their supporters.
AYONG MALIKSI CONCEDES TO REMULLA
REPRESENTATIVE and former Gov. Erineo “ Ayong” Maliksi conceded defeat on Monday. Maliksi in his letter written in Tagalog sent to members of media and to Gov. Jonvic Remulla, offered his hand for the good of the Caviteños. Remulla welcomed Maliksi’s gesture but said, “It will be long healing the effects of this polluted politics.” Jolo Revilla of Lakas-CMD defeated Jay Lacson of the Liberal Party to take the vice governor’s seat. Remulla garnered 612,521 votes, while Maliksi took 510,767.
