SULU POLICE CHIEF SACKED
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday announced the sacking of the police provincial com-mander of Sulu where peace and order situation spiralled down leading to Monday’s mid-term elections. PNP chief, Director General Alan Puri-sima said he had ordered the relief of Sr. Supt. Anto-nio Freyra as Sulu provincial police chief for his “failure” to control the peace and order situation in the pro-vince. The PNP chief said that days leading to Elec-tion Day on Monday, ten-sion in the province rose, particularly in Panglima Estino town and Tongkil Island resulting in bloody confrontations between rival candidates and their supporters.
