Workspace provider Regus Philippines is set to open its biggest center in the country yet, with the opening of its first center in Davao City.
In a media briefing on Tuesday, Regus Philippines country manager Lars Wittig said that the firm has partnered with Davao-based property developer Damosa Land Inc. for its center in Davao, which is set to open later this month.
The Regus Center in Davao, a 1,600-square meter facility in the Damoas IT Park with 350 workstations, will be the company’s biggest center to date.
“The average center has, maybe, 225 workstations. The smallest we have is about 125 worksations,” Wittig said.
Regus, he said, has seen a rise in the number of inquiries as demand for flexible workspaces in the country has been growing.
“In terms of demand, we have gone from less than 100 inquiries per month, to over 700 inquiries per month. And these are inquiries coming to us, we are not doing anything else except for spreading the word,” he explained.
The new Regus Center in Davao is seen to target new businesses that, Wittig noted, are “testing the waters” in the Davao market. It is part of the company’s thrust towards a more nationwide approach.
“We also serve as an incubator for all of these investors coming in from abroad as well as up and coming businesses within the Philippines,’ he said.
The vice president of Damosa Land, Ricardo Floirendo Lagdameo, affirmed Wittig’s sentiment and spoke about the need for additional office spaces in Davao.
“We’ve gotten a lot of inquiries in the past few months from people who are curious about Davao; but they’re still not sure about investing fully in Davao. So, Regus gives them that opportunity to come in and see how much space they need, how can they grow,” Lagdameo said.
Wittig described Regus as an “enabler” of new companies who are still unsure about bringing their businesses to Davao. With Regus, “there’s no long-term liability, no capital investment.” One can launch a business, test the waters; and get a feel about how it will go, said Wittig.
Aside from the Davao center, Regus also has three other centers outside Metro Manila—two in Cebu and one in Clark. The company is now considering to set up centers also in Zamboanga, General Santos City and Cagayan De Oro.
