Rehab for ‘Ferdie’-struck families continues


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) intensifies its rehabilitation efforts for families heavily struck by Typhoon Ferdie (international codename: Meranti) in Batanes. DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo said the rehabilitation in Batanes will start this October following the department’s conduct of an intense planning and assessment. Cagayan Valley’s DSWD field office said it already received funds from the central office for the implementation of the early recovery and rehabilitation efforts to assist the affected families. The ongoing rehabilitation efforts include the cash-for-work for 4,549 individuals, P18,331,875; emergency shelter assistance for 2,241 families with damaged houses, P30,550,000; and a project management and administrative support fund of P2,241,386.
