Import Arizona Reid posted 41 points and nine rebounds as San Miguel Beer (SMB) crushed Globalport, 124-102, on Sunday for second victory in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 40 Governors’ Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Reid shot 9-of-11 in the three-point zone and hit 16-of-28 from the field, while Mario Lassiter made 24 points and Chris Ross had 17 points for the Beermen, who improved to 2-2 win-loss record. San Miguel produced 18 three pointers in the game.
“Marcio is the kind of player you don’t want to be traded that’s why I like coaching here,” said SMB head coach Leo Austria. I know from the beginning Marcio could shine in our team. They were on fire tonight.”
GlobalPort’s win-loss record fell to 3-1.
The Beermen started strong, taking a 34-21 upperhand in the opening quarter, which stretched to 24 points on Ross’ layup still 5:05 left in the second period.
Ronald Tubid scored on a jumper to post their biggest lead, 104-73, early in the final quarter.
Also ably supporting the Beermen was Alex Cabagnot with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists while reigning MVP June Mar Fajardo could only managed to score six points but hauled down 11 rebounds.
In the second game, Meralco Bolts beat Purefoods Star Hotshots, 83-81, to claim their second win.
The Bolts improved to 2-2 while the Hotshots fell to 1-2.
