Resorts World Manila (RWM) continues to build on its tradition of world-class culinary offerings this time bringing in a well-known restaurant brand from the United States to Philippines shores.
Already known to offer some of the finest steaks in the metro at Marriott’s Cru Steakhouse and its signature restaurant Impressions, RWM recently launched the flagship outlet of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse in Manila at the Newport Mall. Rated as one of the best steakhouses in New York, the opening of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse in RWM marks the brand’s first venture in Southeast Asia.
“We are extremely thrilled to have a brand of this caliber call our property its home here in the country,” says RWM Chief Integrated Marketing Officer Martin Paz. “Wolfgang’s Steakhouse fits perfectly in our vision of nestling a hub of diverse world-class culinary options featuring some of the best restaurants that serve the finest flavors globally.”
The steak house is named after Wolfgang Zwiener, who opened his own restaurant after having worked as headwaiter at the legendary Peter Luger’s steakhouse in New York for over 40 years. It was during those years where he gained extensive knowledge in the dry aging quality beef and high temperature steak broiling preparation process – key elements that would eventually evolve into Wolfgang’s signature philosophy for excellence.
“We decided to open up our restaurant here in the Philippines when we got the perfect storm of getting the right local partner (SumoSam Group of Restaurants), the right landlord (Megaworld Lifestyle Malls), and the right clientele,” says Peter Zwiener, Wolfgang’s son and President and Managing Partner of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. “It’s my 8th visit in the country and from a steakhouse perspective I don’t think there’s anything like this in the Philippines yet. So we’re very proud and very happy to bring this concept here.”
The restaurant offers strictly USDA Prime beef which are dry aged in the steakhouses’ own propriety designed aging room under a controlled temperature and humidity environment for an average of 28 days.
The original Wolfgang’s Steakhouse started in the dining room of a landmark building formally known as the Vanderbilt Hotel built in 1912. In keeping with Wolfgang’s esteemed tradition, its establishment in Manila incorporates the same design elements of its original counterpart in New York including a long, solid mahogany wood bar, wooden planked floors, wood wainscoting, alabaster chandelier, and curved ceilings bordered with signature tile mosaic.
“There are a lot of people from the Philippines that come to the States and eat at our restaurants. If you look at it from the cultural aspect of our demographics, people from the Philippines do love our restaurant and steak is a staple in their diet,” Zwiener explains.
The country’s first Wolfgang’s Steakhouse is set to indulge gourmands with its world-famous steak entrées – all handpicked from USDA Prime Grade Angus beef for superior marbling, tenderness, flavor, and texture. “We haven’t changed our steak menu since we opened. We’ve always served our New York sirloin, ribeye, filet mignon, and our signature Porterhouse steak,” Zwiener shares.
