Tacloban City: A former provincial prosecutor who retired from the service two years ago and had returned to law practice was shot dead inside his residence in Northern Samar.
Harold Acompaniado, 66, and a retired assistant provincial prosecutor of Northern Samar, was having coffee at the balcony of his house about 5:30 a.m. on Monday, when unidentified gunman shot him at close range, police said.
Supt. Alberto Garcia, Catarman police chief, said the victim was the former assistant provincial prosecutor assigned in Laoang, Northern Samar, for several years until his retirement in 2013.
Garcia added that the victim was shot repeatedly in different parts of the body, resulting in immediate death.
Neighbors who witnessed the killing told investigators that they had noticed the suspect stalking the house of the victim before the incident.
The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head and the abdomen, police said.
Garcia said the local police are facing a blank wall over the killing.
