Fugitive Reyes brothers former Palawan governor Joel Reyes and former Coron mayor Mario Reyes are now under the custody of the Philippine National Police.
The Reyes brothers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 around 3:08 a.m. Friday aboard Philippine Air Lines Flight PR-733 which left Thailand at 11 p.m. Thursday night.
Both men, who have in hiding for the past three years, were arrested by Thai immigration authorities for overstaying in Phuket.
The two were heavily-escorted and in handcuffs. They were immediately taken to Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City where they arrived shortly before 4 a.m. Friday.
The brothers are expected to be detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group facility or the PNP Custodial Center prior the issuance of a commitment order by the Palawan court handling Ortega’s case.
The two slipped out of the country last March 18, 2012 aboard a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Vietnam where they entered Thailand. PNA
