Ricketts, four OMB execs face graft complaint

Optical Media Board (OMB) Chairman Ronaldo “Ronnie” Ricketts and four other officials were charged with graft at the Sandiganbayan in connection with the alleged release of pirated discs seized in 2010.

The Office of the Ombudsman accused Ricketts, Executive Director Cyrus Paul Valenzuela, Head of the Enforcement and Inspection Division (EID) Manuel Mangubat, EID Investigation Agent I Joseph Arnaldo, and EID Computer Operator II Glenn Perez of giving unwarranted benefit advantage or preference to Sky High Marketing Corporation.

Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer II Janet Cabigas-Vejerano said the officials allowed “the release and reloading into the corporation’s vehicle” the confiscated pirated discs on May 27, 2010.

The Ombudsman said the alleged release of the discs “compromised the pieces of evidence that could support the case(s) that should have been filed against the said violators.”

A bail of P30,000 was recommended for each of the respondents.
