Ricketts seeks case dismissal

Action star and Optical Media Board Chairman Ronald “Ronnie” Ricketts is asking the Sandiganbayan’s Fourth Division to dismiss the graft charge against him over the release of pirated discs confiscated from a firm in 2010, saying there was no factual or legal basis to hold him for trial. The Office of the Ombudsman filed the charge before the anti-graft court last June, alleging that as head of the agency, Ricketts should have ordered the filing of case/s against the violators but he did not. The defense said Ricketts is “being forced to answer for acts, which, as established by the prosecution itself, he has never committed.” Ricketts and four other officials are accused of giving unwarranted benefit, advantage or preference to Sky High Marketing Corporation with the alleged release of the pirated discs that were confiscated from the firm.
