Beauty expert and philantrophist Ricky Reyes has been helping cancer-stricken children for more than a decade now. His longest charitable work is encapsulated in the success of Child Haus, the only institution in the Philippines that provides temporary shelter to these children and their families while seeking treatment in the city.
Reyes has been pooling all available resources to support the organization, even mobilizing his friends from the private sector to help in whatever way they can.
His latest “recruit” is no less than SM Prime Holdings, Inc. president Hans Sy who shares Reyes’ passion to help cancer-stricken children who generously donated a new six-storey building for a new Child Haus. It is now under construction at a property on Agoncillo St., Taft Ave., Manila City, a very convenient location for the children receiving treatment from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and other nearby government hospitals.
According to Reyes, Child Haus 2 will allow an expansion of the institution’s operations by including adult cancer-patients among the beneficiaries.
“We will have more rooms in the new Child Haus, and definitely, we will be able to house more patients and better help them. This is very good news because our existing location on Mapang-akit St., Barangay Pinahan in Quezon City only has access to hospitals like Philippine Children’s Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center, Phil. Heart Center and National Kidney and Transplant Institute, among others.”
Sy announced the construction of Child Haus 2 when he celebrated his 59th birthday at Child Haus in Quezon City, which he also donated. Present with the business tycoon were his wife Carol and their children.
