“We have to learn how to win game like this if we want to go to the next level. To beat teams, beat contenders, finish the game strong, make the right decision and make the right plays,” said NLEX coach Yeng Guiao.

“We’re not contenders yet. We’re not yet on the level of contenders. We’re just having a good run,” he added.

Import Aaron Fuller scored 33 points and collared 20 rebounds, while Kevin Alas finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Road Warriors, who extended their winning streak to five games dating back the Commissioner’s Cup.

JR Quinahan added 13 points, while guard Larry Fonacier and Carlo Lastimosa contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, for NLEX.

Trailing 111-112, Alas and Mallari had a lay-up each then Fuller scored on a breakaway dunk and Fonacier capped NLEX’s momentum-swinging 9-0 assault with a triple off Alas’ assist to take the game for good.

Import JD Weatherspoon finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Elasto Painters, who dropped to 1-1.
