Roads closed for Black Nazarene procession

SOME roads will be closed to vehicular traffic on January 9, the feast of the Black Nazarene.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday urged motorists to use alternate routes to avoid being caught in traffic jams.

In its rerouting scheme, the MMDA said all vehicles coming from Quezon City using the stretch of Espana shall turn right P. Campa, left Andalucia, right Fugoso, left T. Mapua to point of destination.

All PUJs/light vehicles coming from España intending to proceed to South Pier Zone, turn left Nicanor Reyes, right Recto, straight to R-10, then left at R-10 to Delpan Bridge to destination.

Vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila through Bonifacio Drive shall turn right at Roberto S. Oca Street, left to Delgado Street, left to Bonifacio Drive (for Port Area offices) or right to A. Soriano Street to Magallanes Drive, right at P. Burgos Street and straight to Lagusnilad to Taft Avenue.

All vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila that will use the stretch of P. Burgos shall take T.M. Kalaw Street, left to Taft Avenue, right to Ayala Bridge to point of destination.

Private vehicles going north through Roxas Boulevard shall turn right at Quirino Avenue and take Nagtahan Bridge to their destination.

All PUJs plying the Monumento-Gasak-Recto route through Andalucia shall turn right at Fugoso Street, and then right at Oroquieta to their point of origin.

All vehicles coming from Legarda shall turn right at Recto Avenue or left to Mendiola.

All vehicles/cargo trucks coming from the south shall take President Osmeña Avenue, turn right at President Quirino Avenue and on to Nagtahan via AH Lacson to Capulong (vice versa).

All buses coming from the eastern part of Manila particularly G-Liner/RRCG shall turn right at Recto Avenue, right at Morayta Street, right at Espana Boulevard, right at Lacson Avenue, right at Earnshaw then left at Legarda.

All buses coming from Taft Avenue going to Fairview shall turn right at UN Avenue up to Otis, turn left to Nagtahan Bridge and right at Espana.

Buses coming from Laguna and Cavite will not be allowed to enter Manila from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and allowed only up to Remedios Street right San Marcelino, back to point of origin.

Starting at 9 p.m. on January 8, Katigbak Drive and one lane of South Drive will be closed to traffic. On January 9, the following roads will be closed starting at 3 a.m.: McArthur Bridge; Jones Bridge; Quezon Bridge; Roxas Boulevard (from Katigbak Drive to T.M Kalaw Avenue); both lanes of Quezon Boulevard from Andalucia/Fugoso to España/P. Campa southbound and Taft Avenue northbound.
