FORMER Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the supposed “secret” meeting between Vice President Leni Robredo and Commission of Elections (Comelec) chairman Andres Bautista is improper.
Marcos, who recently filed an election protest against Robredo before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), said incidents such as the clandestine meeting between Robredo and Bautista are among the reasons why many people are still questioning the results of the May 9 polls, particularly the vice presidential race.
“That is clearly improper. Kaya marami pang nagtatanong sa nangyari noong election (that is why many still want to know what happened in the election,)” Marcos said in a text message.
Robredo and Bautista denied holding a secret meeting and claimed that they were invited to a party held in Makati that was attended by about 40 people.
While Robredo admitted talking to Bautista during the party, she made it clear that they did not discuss politics.
However, Professor Ramon Casiple said that he sees no legal problem in relation with the meeting if indeed it was true.
Casiple said Rbredo does not have a pending case at the Comelec. He added that te Vice President and the Comelec chairman are respondents in the poll protest.
