The decision of Albay Gov. Joey Salceda to support Sen. Grace Poe instead of Liberal Party (LP) presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas has saddened Rep. Leni Robredo.
“I know Governor Joey way back since he was one of those who worked with my husband.
He has his reasons, but it is saddening because I would have wanted for all of us to be together [on the same team]this election,” Robredo said.
She however admitted that Salcedo’s move did not surprise her.
“These things really happen during elections. May madadagdag sa iyo, may mawawala sa iyo (You gain some, you lose some). But everything that happens will lead you to where you are really meant to be. If you lose an ally, it’s a loss, whoever he or she is. Governor, barangay captain, a supporter…if they jump ship, we will be sad,” Robredo said.
“Nalulungkot pa rin siyempre. Ang gusto ko naman, kami pa rin ni Secretary Mar ang magkasama (Of course, it is saddening. I would really prefer that people would support Secretary Mar and myself) But I respect his decision.”
“We will continue to woo our voters; convince them [that we are the right choice], especially that hardly anybody know me in the beginning. We’ll put in the extra effort. Time is gold and I feel lucky that a lot of people are helping me out, including my daughters,” she added.
