Robredo to get Cabinet post in Duterte govt if she wins VP race–Laviña

CAMARINES Sur Rep. Leni Robredo won’t be a “flower vase” in presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte’s government if she wins the vice-presidency, his spokesman said Friday.

“We will make sure that she will not be a flower vase,” Peter Laviña said, telling reporters in a televised news conference in Davao City that Robredo would be guaranteed a Cabinet post in the next administration. “She will not be doing much.”

“But the mayor is a very generous person, he can deal with anyone,” he added. “So it can be a post that can be mutually discussed between the two highest positions in the land.”

He noted of the speculative nature of his statement, though, saying that Duterte and Robredo haven’t met yet. “Hopefully, the official canvassing would be over as soon as possible, so the two can easily meet and work together immediately.”

Robredo belongs to the ruling administration Liberal Party (LP). She paired up with former Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II in the elections.

Roxas, Duterte’s old friend-turned-staunch rival, had conceded after partial and unofficial results showed that the Davao City mayor was leading by a margin of around 6 million votes.

It isn’t over yet in the vice-presidential race, however.

As of 8:55 a.m., Friday, Robredo has 13,992,734 votes against the initial frontrunner Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s 13,775,423, with 95.87 percent of the precincts accounted for.

The Marcos camp claimed that the results have been rigged in favor of Robredo, who has denied the charges. CATHERINE S. VALENTE

  1. Sana di na lang nagsabi si Robredo na neophyte si grace poe tapos nagsabi rin sya na pag nanalo si Duterte at manalo sya, magresign sya
as VP. Ngayon very eager sya manalo????

  2. the election is over but the counting is not. let us not fight against each other, whoever will win shall have the opportunity to serve the country and whoever will lose shall support the newly elected leaders. stop being a traditional politicians, that’s what makes out country torn down into pieces, all of us have different ideas but we should respect our leaders for as long as they are doing well. lets give them a chance to show us what they planned for for our country. heal, heal, heal. . . let us not fight just because we want to serve. we are still a good servant if we follow what is really the direction we are aiming. we can still serve even we are not in the position by doing our part as a Filipino Citizen. Respect the rights and decision of the people. Congratulations to the winners and the coming winners who will be serving starting July 1, 2016 and God Bless to those who lose. You are not a loser actually if you look at on the lighter side, but if you look on the darker side your really a loser because you cannot anymore serve the people in order to gain your personal interests. Wake up Philippines!!!

Anybody will want her to head Social Welfare or Philippine Red Cross. Most ideal for a woman with her convictions. A word of caution to Digongs’political party. The appointment could catapult her to the next Presidency.
This move, however, will prove to everyone, supporters and detractors alike the veracity of Digongs’ intentions.
