• Rodriguez drops lawsuits against league, union

NEW YORK: Embattled New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez on Friday (Saturday in Manila) dropped his lawsuits against Major League Baseball, including one seeking a dismissal of his 162-game doping suspension. The major lawsuit, also filed against the major league players’ union, was filed January 14 at US District Court in New York, two days after federal arbitrator Fredric Hororwitz upheld the one-season ban for 2014 against the 38-year-old superstar whose legacy has been tainted by drugs. The other lawsuit was filed last year and accused major league officials of being on a “witch hunt” against Rodriguez.
