Like other practices and traditions from earlier pilgrims, the charming Mediterranean culture arrived in Philippine shores contributing its own dash of influence to the Filipino way of life.
Celebrating its entry, luxury store Rustan’s recently held a spectacular bash in exploring these beyond-the-border cultures by transporting its guests and patrons to the region. Dubbed “Romancing the Mediterranean,” the event showcased the best of France, Italy and Spain.
An angelic aria performed by eight-year-old Harriette Wharmby started the evening, followed by inspiring speeches of Rustan Commercial Corporation Chairman/CEO Zenaida Tantoco and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, who later joined in a toast with other dignitaries including French Embassy Charge D’affaires in the Philippines Laurent Le Godec, Italian Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Roscigno, Ambassador of Spain to the Philippines His Excellency Luis Antonio Calvo Castaño and wife Madame Maria Jose Carrasco, Rustan’s board of directors member Maritess Tantoco Enriquez, president Donnie Tantoco, and chairman emeritus Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco, Sr.
Guests got to feel the charm of the Mediterranean and got acquainted with the craftsmanship and design of Europe’s finest items displayed along the halls of the venue—from hand-sculptured porcelain and crystal accents for the home to tailored apparel and beautiful accessories.
Concluding the night’s program was a romantic dance performance by Fundacion Centro Flamenco. The celebration continued with guests enjoying food featuring the three cultural capitals’ sumptuous dishes.
Through “Romancing the Mediterranean,” the luxury store hopes to inspire people to discover new ways of not only beautifying their homes but transforming their lives as well.
