Terrence Romeo finished with 33 points to power GlobalPort Batang Pier’s 94-85 win over Barako Bull Energy and secure his team a berth in the next leg of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup playoffs on Friday, Christmas Day, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Romeo, who had a sluggish start in the opening minutes of the ball game, posted 28 points all scored in the second half.

Barako started the ball game with vigor, eager to force a do-or-die game against their foes leading the match after two quarters of play, 41-48.

However, as play resumed for the third period, GlobalPort returned with added firepower to notch 28 points to overtake Barako, 69-64.

Barako fought hard to turn the game around in the final canto but GlobalPort, powered by the duo of Stanley Pringle and Romeo, pulled away to seal their victory.

Romeo also had nine rebounds and five assists while his fellow guard Pringle finished with 15 points and 13 boards.

Veteran Willy Wilson stepped up for Barako, posting 15 points and 15 rebounds while Emman Monfort and Josh Urbiztondo contributed 12 points each as Barako Bull exited the title race.
