• Romero assures Season 43 will push through


    Mikee Romero, Philippine Basketball Association’s outgoing chairman and GlobalPort Batang Pier’s big boss, assured local hoops fans that the Season 43 of the PBA will push through as scheduled on December 17. Romero also promised to end the ongoing impasse in the PBA board.

    “Rest assured comes December 17, the PBA will open its 43rd season. Although there is divisiveness among the board of governors, by next week we will do everything to end the impasse,” Romero said during the PBA Press Corps Awards Night on Thursday at the Gloria Maris Restaurant in Quezon City.

    Given recognition during the night were LA Tenorio of Ginebra (Order of Merit), Terrence Romeo of GlobalPort (Scoring Champ), RR Pogoy of TNT, Matthew Wright of Phoenix, Jio Jalalon of Magnolia, Kevin Ferrer of Ginebra and Reden Celda of Kia (All-Rookie team), Jayson Castro of TNT, Ranidel De Ocampo of Meralco, Beau Belga of Rain or Shine, Tenorio, coach Tim Cone of Ginebra and Marc Pingris of Magnolia (All Interview team), Kelly Williams of TNT (Comeback Player of the Year), Jalalon (Mr. Quality Minutes), Ginebra vs Star held last September 3 Governors Cup (Game of the season), Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corporation (Executive of the Year) and Leo Austria of San Miguel Beermen (Virgilio “Baby” Dalupan Coach of the Year)

    The Finals MVP of the last three conferences were Chris Ross and Alex Cabagnot of San Miguel Beer and Tenorio.
