Rookie policeman nabbed for double murder


SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: A rookie police officer who shot dead his two drinking buddies and wounded another was arrested by his colleagues on Wednesday here. Chief Insp. Silverio Ordinado Jr., La Union police information officer, said Police Officer1 Ricardo Rillo, 44, of Barangay Santiago Sur this city was arrested based on warrants of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Caroline Rojas-Jaucian for two counts of murder and attempted murder. Rillo is assigned at the Holding and Accounting unit of La Union police in Camp Diego Silang. Last May 17, Rillo, with Willie Fernando and Joseph Balanag quarreled while drinking liquor but were pacified by Fernando’s younger brother Christian, 23. Rillo left the group and returned about an hour later and fired shots at the victims, killing the two on the spot. Christian survived.
