The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that the intersection of Quezon Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City will be temporarily closed to traffic starting Saturday, May 21 to give way to the construction of the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 (MMSS-3) project.
In its advisory, the MMDA said the left-turning traffic from Roosevelt to Quezon Avenue may take the U-turn slot in front of Maxima.
It said that Roosevelt Avenue has become an alternate route for vehicles from the northern side of Araneta Avenue because of the Skyway Stage 3 project.
The MMDA also advised the motorists that traffic lights in the area will be in flashing mode.
“Motorists are advised to use alternate routes,” the MMDA said.
The closure of the intersection is indefinite and will be contingent to the progress of the Skyway Stage 3 project construction in the area.
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, the P26.6-billion Skyway Stage 3 project is an elevated expressway from Buendia, Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City with a distance of about 14.82 kilometers.
Skyway Stage 3 is designed to pull in and ease traffic and access through eight strategically located interchanges at Buendia, Pres. Quirino Avenue, Plaza Dilao and Nagtahan, Aurora Boulevard, E. Rodriguez Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Sgt. Rivera and Balintawak with a total of 14 Toll Plazas.
It will be the motorists’ choice corridor servicing Metro Manila intercity travelers.
