Former National Collegiate Athletic Association Most Valuable Player (MVP) CJ Rosario was predicted to be the top overall pick when the Philippine Superliga (PSL) holds its Annual Rookie Draft today at the Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
The draft will start at 5 p.m.
The alumna of Arellano University displayed impressive performance during the 1st PSL Rookie Camp held on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan City.
“I am not expecting anything because I don’t want to get hurt,” said the 21-year old middle blocker from Cagayan.
“It’s not a problem what position in the draft I may be. If luck will come, I want to stay with Petron. But if ever, any team will do for me,” added Rosario who played for Petron during the pre-season.
Former University of the Philippines Athletic Association MVP Ara Galang was also present in the camp.
Besides Rosario and Galang, the other rookie hopefuls are Mary Grace Berte of Holy Cross of Davao, Shirley Salamagos, Danna Henson and Angel Legacion of Arellano, Asi Soliven of National University and Marlyn Llagoso and Jerra Mae Pacino of Southwestern University in Cebu.
“I think she’s [Rosario] ready for the big league,” said camp director Sammy Acaylar of Cignal.
“She’s the consensus top overall pick. Everybody wants to draft her. Personally, I also want her for my team. But I will be picking sixth so nothing is certain yet. Whoever drafts her will be very lucky. She’s the middle blocker of the future,” added Acaylar.
Besides Acaylar, Kungfu Reyes of RC Cola-Army, George Pascua of Petron, Francis Vicente of Generika, Ramil de Jesus of F2 Logistics, Nene Ybañez of Standard Insurance-Navy, Ken Moleno of Perpetual and Don Dulay of Foton were also present in the workout.
The Lady Troopers will be picking first followed by Generika, Perpetual, Standard Insurance-Navy, F2 Logistics, Cignal, Petron and Foton.
