INTERIOR Secretary Mar Roxas 2nd on Friday directed the police forces of Taguig and Makati to stay away from the territorial dispute between the two cities over the fashionable and revenue-rich Bonifacio Global City.
Roxas said the police of the two cities must maintain a status quo until the Court of Appeals makes a final decision on who has jurisdiction over the Global City that straddles in the boundary of Taguig and Makati.
“The point is that the police should not interfere in this issue. Let’s all wait for the court to settle the problem,” Roxas said on Friday in a televised interview.
He said the primary concern of the two police forces “is to maintain peace and order for our citizens.”
Roxas said the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) will exercise general responsibility in Global City.
The territorial row between the two cities erupted anew after the Court of Appeals issued a ruling late last month handing over jurisdiction of Bonifacio Global City to Makati.
The Taguig city government immediately challenged the ruling.
