Liberal Party (LP) Presidential candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas has asked for more time to file his campaign contributions and expenditures, while his running mate and incoming Vice President Leni Robredo did not receive any cash from the LP for her campaign.
Akbayan party-list Rep. Ibarra Gutierrez, spokesperson for the Roxas campaign, said that a request for extension for 14 days for Roxas and the LP to complete the filing was sent to the Commission on Elections on Thursday.
“The primary reason is the voluminous number of receipts that have to be scanned and attached to the document, in compliance with the rules and in the interest of complete transparency,” Gutierrez said.
Roxas lost the Presidential race to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte by six million votes.
On the other hand, Robredo revealed in her Statement of Campaign Contribution and Expenditures (SOCE) that she did not receive cash contribution from LP which is her political party.
Robredo listed P423,163,737.34 million under her campaign contributions, but registered zero cash contributions received from LP.
Robredo, however, received P406,106,250.19 cash from other sources, P16,665,148.32 in kind contribution from LP and P192,338.83 in kind contributions from other sources.
Robredo was able to spend P418,664,130.60 of her campaign funds.
Of the P418 million that she spent, P401,606,643.45 were paid out through cash contributions from other sources and P17,057,487.15 paid out of in kind contributions from LP and other sources.
Robredo did not spend a single cent on cash out of her personal pocket for her campaign.
