Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and the national police chief on Saturday inspected the detention quarters in Fort Santo Domingo in Santa Rosa, Laguna, where the key figure in the pork barrel scandal Janet Lim Napoles will be locked up.
Roxas II and the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Alan Purisima motored to Fort Santo Domingo to see for themselves if the facility is adequately secured, according to PNP Public Information chief, Senior Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac.
“We need to ensure that the place is adequately secure and adequately prepared so all in likelihood there won’t be a transfer tonight,” Sindac said in a text message.
The police camp in Santa Rosa houses the training center for the Special Action Force (SAF), the elite PNP unit in fighting terrorism, insurgency and lawless elements.
The Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Friday ordered Napoles detained in Fort Santo Domingo after she surrendered on Wednesday.
