Damage caused by typhoon “Ruby” to agriculture and infrastructure has reached Php1,955,123,994 while the number of affected people was placed at 2.3 million.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday said damage to infrastructure was estimated at Php682,583,250.00 while agriculture loss in Regions 4-A,4-B,5,6, and 8 was placed at Php 1,272,540,744.
Earlier, NDRRMC Executive Director Alexander Pama said that 11 were confirmed dead.
In its 6 a.m. update, NDRRMC said that nine fatalities are now identified and validated by the Department of Health (DOH).
The latest fatality identified as Romeo Dispara, 72, of Ajuy, Iloilo who died due to myocardial infarction.
It added that 480 persons were reported injured in Regions 7 and 8.
NDRRMC said that 532,887 families or 2,392,593 persons were affected by “Ruby” in Regions 3 (Central Luzon), 4-A (Calabarzon), 4-B (Mimaropa), 5 (Bicol Region), 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), 8 (Eastern Visayas), Caraga and National Capital Region (NCR). Of these, 389,807 families or 1,766,929 people were evacuated.
As of Wednesday, some 604 passengers and 13 vessels are still stranded in various ports of the country due to bad weather.
Power supply has been restored in the municipalities of Hilongos, Bato, Hindang, Imopacan, Matalom, Isabel, Merida and Palompon, all in Leyte province; and Unisan and Guinayangan in Quezon.
It added that nine bridges are not passable in Quezon Province and Camarines Sur and 17 flooded areas in Quezon, Laguna, Marinduque while areas floods in Pitogo and Unisan both in Quezon Province, has subsided.
A total of 913 houses were damaged in Regions 4-B, 5, 7 and Caraga, of which 425 were totally damaged.
The total cost of government assistance for the affected families in Regions 5, 6, 7 and Caraga has reached Php 65,431,147.46. PNA
