OVER the last two decades, the Philippine Fashion Week has become the no. 1 source of style and clothing trends. For the Holiday 2014, The Manila Times has spotted new and returning trends that fashion-conscious Filipinos must definitely watch out for in the coming months.

    Between the lines
Lines, be it horizontal, vertical or diagonal, was a trend that resurfaced at the PhFW Holiday 2014 as seen on the sleeves, skirt, bodice and more. The designers who incorporated the details in their creations included Xernan Ortico who made a very chic skirt from diagonal stripes; and Roland Lirio added vertical lines to his long gowns creating a very slimming effect.

    Black is back
After five months of avoiding the hot and dark shade, black is definitely back in the fashion scene. When the gloomy weather starts coming in, Filipinos can start wearing black again and choices abound at the PhFW Holiday 2014. Black dresses came in short, midi and long lengths like that of Arnold Galang and Anthony Ramirez. There were multi-piece ensembles also in full black, like sharp and manly suits, or feminine and sexy attires.

    Gold that glitters
Sheer golden gowns with shiny embellishments were first been seen a couple of PhFW seasons ago. For Holiday 2014, the fashion technique is still hot and aplenty. Similar in aesthetic, the eveningwear differed by how simple or elaborate the crystals or other appliqués were. Designers who presented such collections included Pat Santos and Jun Jun Cambe, among others.
