SEOUL: South Korea on Monday accused North Korea of planting a land mine that maimed two soldiers on border patrol last week, and threatened to make Pyongyang pay a "harsh price" for its aggression.

"Our military ... will make North Korea pay a harsh price proportionate for the provocation it made," the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
