WORLD Boxing Organization (WBO) minimum weight champion Merlito Sabillo is bracing for his first title defense on July 6, possibly at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City.
The undefeated Sabillo, 29, will face 24-year-old Colombian Jorle Estrada (16-6 win-loss card with five knockouts).
“Sabillo becomes stronger and faster. He looks so good now and we’re taking care right now of the game plan,” Sabillo’s head trainer and ALA promotion overall coach Edito Villamor said.
Villamor added that Sabillo became very inspired after his fellow Filipino boxers WBO Oriental welterweight champion Jimrex Jaca, Genesis Servania and WBO light welterweight international champion Jason Pagara won over their respective foes last week.
Sabillo, who holds 21-0 win-loss card with 11 knockouts, won his last fight via eighth round technical knockout against Luis Dela Rosa of Colombia last March 9, 2013 for the WBO interim minimum weight title.
