SAGADA, Mountain Province: Indigenous Peoples Representative to the City Council Jaime Dugao denounced the post nuptial shoot done at the Lumyang Burial Cave last month.
He added that he plans to present a resolution denouncing said act at the City Council session.
Meanwhile, netizens of Save Sagada Facebook Group opposed the photographs done by Mike and Ruffa Paglalunan on the post wedding pictorials of a certain Ian and Sheena at the burial cave, saying the site is sacred.
Dugao explained that the Lumyang cave is a solemn site where the dead rest and not a place for festivities as in the nature of weddings.
The Facebook comments drew an apology from Mike Paglalunan, “we did not intend to disrespect Sagada, its residents and traditions.”
“Our tour guide informed us that as long as we did not touch anything at the venue, we’re not doing anything illegal,” he said, adding that they “exercised extreme caution while shooting in Sagada.”
Accompanied by two local guides, the group also had photo shoots in other tourist attractions.
Documentation and filming requirements set by a municipal ordinance, include prescribing fees for filming, documentation including photography for commercial purposes.
