Unheralded potential world champion Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar, will fight McWilliams Arroyo of Puerto Rico today in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight title eliminator match at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Puerto Rico.
Saludar, from Polomolok South Cotabato, with a 19-0 win-loss record with 12 knockouts said that he is very excited to fight against the Puerto Rican slugger Arroyo (14-1 win-loss card with 12 knockouts).
“I will not waste this great opportunity given to me to fight against McWilliams Arroyo in this IBF title eliminator. Although Arroyo is an Olympian and a good and talented fighter, I promise that I will do all my best to win this fight,” Saludar told Filipino boxing website philboxing.com on Thursday.
“I have trained hard in preparing for this fight with my trainer Jun Agrabio and I am 100 percent ready.”
If ever he wins, the 25-year-old Saludar, brother of 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games gold medalist Rey Saludar will earn the right to fight the current IBF flyweight champion 34-year-old Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand (13-0 record with five knockouts).
