• Samar power lines restored

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) on Tuesday announced that it has repaired several power transmission facilities affected by Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) in Samar.

According to the NGCP, it re-energized the 138-kilovolt (kV) Babatngon-Paranas Line 2 and 138-kV Paranas-Calbayog Line 2 on Monday night.

Because of this, NGCP can now transmit power to the electric cooperatives concerned.

NGCP said the energization of the substations of cooperatives followed the restoration of the cited power transmis-sion facilities.

The grid operator has energized Samelco 2 (Samar Electric Cooperative), which covers the Paranas Substation and Catbalogan Substation.

It has also energized SA-MELCO 1 which covers the Capoocan and Palanas Ca- ra Substations.

In addition, the NGCP said it has energized Nor-samelco (Northern Samar Electric Cooperative) which covers the Bobon Substation and Bobolosan Substation.

“NGCP will continue repairing other 69-kV lines also damaged by typhoon Ruby to be able to energize the other substations of the Samar Island cooperatives,” the grid operator said in an advisory.

Typhoon Ruby toppled several power lines when it pounded the Visayas and parts of southern Luzon earlier this month.

    1. Seems it will be a dark Christmas and New Years here in Barangy Cadaragan, Western Samar. We only outside of the town proper which has power and barangys around us have power put SAMECO refuses to restore our power as collective punishment against a few wrong doers. Why must everyone suffer for the few but they have no trouble increasing our bills and demanding payment but we cant even get basic services. Dark hot Christmas and candle lit New Year. All punished for the few. MERRY CHRISTMAS
