San Beda College Team B (SBC-B) demolished Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), 9-1, in the second division of the 14th season of Ang Liga at their home field in Manila on Sunday.
With the win, the reserve team of the Red Lions improved their record to four wins and a loss to tighten their grasp of the No. 2 spot while EAC now holds a 1-4 win-loss card.
Marco Cauyong led the Bedans’ rally against their fellow National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) club with a hat trick following goals in the fourth, 18th and 57th minutes of the match.
In addition, Renan Roxas, Christopher Villanueva and Mariano Suba also contributed to their team’s victory after scoring two-goals each against their foes.
On the other hand, Marvin Lianza capitalized on a defensive miscue on the SBC-B back line late in the game to score the Generals’ only goal in the 84th minute.
Consequently, the reserve team of Far Eastern University kept their unbeaten run in the second division with a slim 1-0 win over Don Bosco Technical College.
Skilful scorer Gio Pabualan fueled the Tamaraws B’s fifth consecutive victory in the competition as Don Bosco absorbed its third loss in four games.
Also, University of the Philippines Team B outlasted the sluggish Malayan Colleges Laguna, 4-1, through the brace performance of Daniel Abraham.
Abraham notched goals for the Fighting Maroons reserves in the 35th and 57th minute while teammates Patrick Dizon and Harel Dayan added one goal each.
Lastly, the lone first division match between National University and University of the East ended in a 1-1 draw.
