• San Beda begins NCAA title defense

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 91 football tournament will begin on Tuesday at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium with San Beda College hoping to claim its sixth crown in the league.

Hosted by San Sebastian College- Recoletos (SSC-R), the tournament this year will be in a double-round format, which will pit teams in two rounds of games before moving on to the knockout stage.

Besides San Beda, the other competing teams are Arellano University, College of Saint Benilde, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Jose Rizal University, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), Mapua Institute of Technology, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and host SSC-R, will all be vying for the coveted crown of the football tournament of the oldest athletic association in the country.

The Red Lions, after successfully defending their title in last year’s competition at the expense of LPU, will look to solidify their supremacy as the league’s number one squad.

Meanwhile, last year’s runner-up Lyceum Pirates are expected to push hard to replicate their impressive feat of earning a ticket to the finals in the previous season while erstwhile powerhouse teams Arellano and Saint Benilde are also anticipated to play hard for the title.
