San Beda coach sees tough season ahead for defending NCAA champs

San Beda College coach Boyet Fernandez sees a tough National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season ahead for his team.

“It’s going to be tough. All teams now have the capabilities of winning. But we can overcome all difficulties,” said Fernandez, who takes over the helm of the defending champions Red Lions from Ronnie Magsanoc.

San Beda, which is gunning for its fourth straight title, is the winningest team in the league, with 17 crowns.

The NCAA’s 89th season opens with colorful ceremonies at 3 p.m. San Beda starts its title by facing host St. Benilde at 4 p.m.

The big game of the day however pits Letran and San Sebastian, both seeded teams, at 6 p.m.
