San Juan mayor seeks clarification on suspension of city officials

San Juan City (Metro Manila) Mayor Guia Gomez sought clarification from the Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division on the implementation of its preventive suspension order against City Administrator Ranulfo Dacalos and City Legal Officer Romualdo de los Santos, along with Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito and Lorenza Ching pending litigation of a graft case and several others in connection with the allegedly anomalous purchase of firearms for P2.1 million in 2008 when Ejercito was the mayor. In a letter filed on Wednesday, Gomez informed the court that Ching is no longer connected with the city government as of August 1, 2016. “With respect to Ranulfo B. Dacalos and Romualdo C. de los Santos, I respectfully request a clarification on the implementation of the order given that the 15-day period for them to file a Motion for Reconsideration has not yet expired and in light of my receipt of copy of the Petition for Certiorari filed by them,” Gomez said.
