MARK Barroca gained the Accel-Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Press Corps “Player of Week” plum for leading San Mig Coffee in securing a 2-1 lead over top seed Barangay Ginebra in the best-of-seven semifinals series of the 39th PBA Philippine Cup.
The 5’10 point-guard Barroca, a fifth overall pick by Shopinas.Com in 2011, posted five points in Game One, but his turnaround jumper in the dying seconds enabled the Coffee Mixers to escape with an 85-83 win.
The Zamboanga-native Barro–ca also nailed 15 of his career-high 25 points in the second half to power San Mig Coffee’s 97-89 victory in Game Three on Sunday. He also added eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and one blockshot to move coach Tim Cone’s team just two wins away from ruling the best-of-seven finals series.
He edged Paul Lee of Rain or Shine for the coveted weekly plum, his third straight in the season-opening conference.
