San Sebastian College outclassed Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-11, 25-17, 25-15, to clinch the first Final Four slot on Tuesday in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 91 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
National mainstay Grethcel Soltones scattered 13 points to lead the Lady Stags to their seventh straight win and stay on top of the standings.
Joyce Sta. Rita contributed nine points while Dangie Encarnacion and Katherine Villegas added eight points each.
No Letran player scored in double digits as the Lady Knights could only got six from Mikaela Lopez and five from Regielyn Cabrera.
Letran absorbed its seventh loss in as many games.
In the men’s division, San Sebastian bucked a slow start to turn back Letran, 18-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-23, and earn its third win in seven games.
The Stags scored 52 from the attack line including 19 from Richard Tolentino and 13 from Jahir Ebrahim. They also had 10 blocks highlighted by Julius James Lana and Christian Calonia’s combined seven denials.
Skipper Harold Reyes scored 18 points for the Knights, who fell to 2-5.
San Sebastian completed a three-for-three against Letran as its junior counterparts nailed a 25-18 25-27, 25-13, 25-17 win to improve to 3-2.
