San Sebastian Stags target remaining semifinals berth

SAN Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags will try to snatch the last Final Four berth when they face host College of Saint Benilde Blazers today in the 89th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament elimination round at The Arena in San Juan City.

A win by the Stags over the Blazers in their 4 p.m. encounter will complete the semifinals cast going into the last day of the double round elimination on Saturday. In a non-bearing game, Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers (6-11) will meet with the Arellano University Chiefs (7-9) at 6 p.m.

In the juniors division, San Sebastian Staglets battle the Saint Benilde-LSGH Greenies at 12 p.m. while the Jose Rizal Light Bombers collide with the Arellano Braves at 2 p.m.

The Stags are currently bearing a 10-7 win-loss slate but still needs to win over the Blazers to eliminate Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals, who are closely following with 9-8 card.

If the EAC Generals won over Mapua Cardinals on Saturday and San Sebastian Stags bow to the Blazers today then both teams will finish the elimination with identical 10-8 slates. That would mean a playoff match to decide who will own the fourth semifinals slot.
