THE Sandiganbayan denied a petition for bail by the chief aide of then Senate president Juan Ponce-Enrile, a co-accused in the P172 million plunder case in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam, for lack of merit.

In a 16-page decision last June 28, the anti-graft court said that lawyer Jessica “Gigi” Reyes’ petition could not be granted because of a Supreme Court decision on alleged PDAF scam mastermind Janet Napoles’ petition for bail, which ruled that the implied conspiracy between Napoles and her co-accused—including Reyes—was proven “through various documentary and testimonial evidence showing that they acted towards the common goal of misappropriating the PDAF of former Senator Enrile.”
