While he and Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte have chosen their respective running mates for the 2016 elections, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. thanked supporters who are still pushing for their partnership.
A group pushing for ALDUB or the “Alyansang Duterte-Bongbong” was among those who trooped to the Commission on Elections on Tuesday when Duterte filed his certificate of candidacy for president.
“I have categorically stated who my President is, and that is Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago,” Marcos said.
The senator earlier admitted that he had sought Duterte’s support and endorsement but that all changed when the Davao mayor decided to join the presidential race.
Marcos however said he respects the view of some of his supporters who believe in Duterte.
“That’s part of our democratic process, allowing voters to choose the leaders they want. I am grateful and humbled by their continued support and trust,” he said.
